Vintage Teak HOWDAH Elephant chair.
Designed on Indian elephant saddles from the ANGLO-INDIAN early 20th century.
Featuring carved elephant scenes to the rear back panel and the front lower panel, with turned spindle surround, topped with turned finials.
In very nice condition with only minor signs of wear to one front spindle (0n the inside edge, see photo).
Although this was designed as a chair, I have seen them used as a low side table/ lamp table, either way they make quite a statement in any situation.
